Microplastic Adobe Adobe AfterEffects
Microplastic is a one minute animation that follows the brief life-cycle of single-use plastics. The piece experiments with the meaning of type through motion, and aims to increase awareness of microplastics and encourage action.
The world’s oceans and waterways are highly polluted with plastic. Microplastics present a new concern, which we are still learning about. They occur when larger plastic items-like water bottles, straws, or other consumer items- break down over time. Gradually, they break down into pieces that are less than 5 millimeters long or smaller. To prevent creating more micro plastics, we should reduce our overall use of single-use plastics, and recycle things that can be recycled.
I had the the honor of presenting Microplastic on a panel at the Water, Water Everywhere conference at Western Carolina University in November 2021.
