Women In Stem Temporary Exhibit: Asheville Museum of Science Summer 2021

Poster series for a temporary exhibit at the Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) in Asheville, North Carolina. In partnership with the If/Then foundation, AMOS held an exhibit featuring leading women in fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

Preparing for the temporary exhibit and its later permanent exhibit was a collaborative process, and I coordinated with my fellow interns who managed social media, PR, museum operations, etc. As the lead designer on this project, I not only created the poster designs but also created the color scheme and general branding for the temporary exhibit as well as marketing for the future permanent exhibit.

Each poster features a different ambassador of the If/Then program, who were selected by AMOS staff to represent a variety of fields of study, interest, and backgrounds. With the youngest museum visitors in mind, I designed an icon system for each panel which describes the specific work that each scientist does.

This exhibit was a wonderful opportunity to work on something that I care about, because even today, females make up only a small percentage of STEM-related fields. It is important to show girls that they can be scientists, and that there are many ways of being a scientist. This exhibit features biology, computer science, astrophysics, wildlife conservation, and more.
